It’s Christmas Eve and it has started to snow slightly. It’s what everyone in Big Sky wants for Christmas each year.
Before you tuck away for the holidays with your friends and family I wanted to share Kara and Ryan’s engagement photos with you. It was such a cold cold day in Big Sky, but the coldest days here, the negative multiple degrees Fahrenheit, they are some of the prettiest.
We hope you enjoy this winter cheer. Thank you so much for such a wonderful 2012. All of you, our fans, clients, friends and family have made it an incredible year. We are very excited to continue relationships with past clients and to make new ones with our 2013 couples and families.
What a beautiful day! I photographed Joe and Nong’s wedding years ago and since then they have have opened up the Naked Noodle in Bozeman and had two children. This winter I had the pleasure of photographing them once again along with their extended family.
What a joy it is to be able to document peoples lives as it is always changing!
Keep it in the moment,
Photographing families in their intimate homes and seeing the most honest and true moments is what inspires me most as a photographer. I am very grateful to all of the families that have let me creatively tell their life story with imagery. The best and most genuine shoots are like this one with the Hart Family where I am able to enter their home and just start shooting with no formalities. Every family is unique, and the more I personally get to know all of these amazing people, the more I am continually reminded what a joy it is to share with them the priceless gift of emotional and personal photography.
Thank you Amy and Chris for trusting me, I am honored. It truly is my passion!
Keep it in the moment
I am so grateful that our paths crossed 3 years ago. This couple Rachael and Bob had me photograph their wedding and they have so much love surrounding them, that I knew their baby was born into infinite love and support from all of their friends and family. These two prove that “Law of Attraction” is for real because everything they do is from their heart and they exude compassion with everyone they encounter.
This baby is so fortunate, that is all I have to say!
Keep it in the Moment,
This past weekend my family had the privilege of doing a photo-shoot with Eye in the Sky Photography. With our last family photo session being 12 years ago packed in a Walmart studio, we were very much ready for an upgrade.
Coming from a family of 15, coordinating the many schedules to even find a day that would work for everyone was in and of itself a challenge, but with our schedules finally lined up, mom promised cinnamon rolls and coffee to everyone that showed up on time the morning of the shoot.
One by one everyone began to arrive. What 12 years ago, was once the Big Sky crew of “just” 13 kids, had now turned into spouses and grandkids making for a grand total of 25, all awaiting Kene’s arrival. We all just hoped he was prepared for the random, noisy, unique, and just a bit crazy bunch of Downers.
While waiting for it to warm up outside a bit, we finished our cinnamon rolls and coffee while Kene wandered in and out of rooms capturing the more candid moments. Moments of all the little guys wrestling, sisters snuggling, the brothers talking about their next hunting trip, or mom and dad just enjoying having everyone back at the house. Kene then piled into the 15-passenger van with us and we headed out to get some nice portraits with the mountains. As far as portraits go, we were all relieved to be able to act ourselves and climb all over the rocks or even throw snowballs at each other in between photos. At the end of it all we made it back to the house for a nice dinner and had to agree that Kene did a pretty great job of capturing us at what we do best, being a family.
Not only did Ally and Andy have a beautiful backdrop for their engagement shoot with Kene, but they also have a great story together; nothing is better than the priceless moment of finally getting to be with the girl of your dreams. Ally and Andy went to high-school together and after heading separate directions in life their paths have led them back to each other. With all the twists and turns that life takes, you can just look at a story like theirs and marvel how the every day life of sitting in a high-school classroom can lead to the unexpected joy of a dream come true. Congratulations Ally and Andy!
It’s Monday and sometimes we need a little Monday cheer. How about a family of three that is about to make four. This beautiful mother is due any day now and Kene is very excited to photograph the journey of this child’s first year. This is just the beginning folks, stay tuned for newborn shots all the way through the first birthday.
These are some of our favorite family images to date, just ask Ryan. It’s funny too because Kene was a little uncertain about them, didn’t think they were his best. After I saw how good they really were, I asked him why he wasn’t sure? He said, “Because it didn’t feel like work.”
So as you can see our jobs are pretty good–Kene got to hang out in the park with a cool family on a Sunday afternoon. This family hired Kene to be Kene. When the pressure is gone, when you are welcomed like a part of the family, when they’ve hired YOU to be YOU, instead of thinking about expectations, you get to be an artist. And these authentic captures are the result. Kene watched, engaged and captured the nuances of these children, the moments of this family and told the story of this Sunday in the park.
I’m very excited to be the one writing this post today instead of Kene. Why? Because Kene and his wife Adriane just welcomed their third child, Sage Doyle Sperry into the world. All are happy and healthy and home together now. Next week, I get the honor of capturing Kene’s family and it’s newest member in these first weeks together. Of course, we’ll be sharing a few shots with you too.
For today we have another wonderful family that we are sharing with you. Two years ago, Kene captured Kim and Chris’s wedding weekend in picturesque Rowayton, CT. When Kim’s good friend Ali got engaged she knew she wanted Kene to photograph her Bedford, NY wedding. Kim was so excited that Kene would be photographing Ali’s wedding and that he would be able to capture her family and it’s newest member.
Kim and I have emailed back and forth for two years now, so I sort of feel like I know her. I love working at Eye in the Sky because the relationships with our clients continue for years.
Enjoy your Wednesday pick up with these happy family shots.
