This past weekend my family had the privilege of doing a photo-shoot with Eye in the Sky Photography. With our last family photo session being 12 years ago packed in a Walmart studio, we were very much ready for an upgrade.
Coming from a family of 15, coordinating the many schedules to even find a day that would work for everyone was in and of itself a challenge, but with our schedules finally lined up, mom promised cinnamon rolls and coffee to everyone that showed up on time the morning of the shoot.
One by one everyone began to arrive. What 12 years ago, was once the Big Sky crew of “just” 13 kids, had now turned into spouses and grandkids making for a grand total of 25, all awaiting Kene’s arrival. We all just hoped he was prepared for the random, noisy, unique, and just a bit crazy bunch of Downers.
While waiting for it to warm up outside a bit, we finished our cinnamon rolls and coffee while Kene wandered in and out of rooms capturing the more candid moments. Moments of all the little guys wrestling, sisters snuggling, the brothers talking about their next hunting trip, or mom and dad just enjoying having everyone back at the house. Kene then piled into the 15-passenger van with us and we headed out to get some nice portraits with the mountains. As far as portraits go, we were all relieved to be able to act ourselves and climb all over the rocks or even throw snowballs at each other in between photos. At the end of it all we made it back to the house for a nice dinner and had to agree that Kene did a pretty great job of capturing us at what we do best, being a family.
I have been photographing the Sheehan family for a few years now and it has been a pleasure watching their boys grow up. Their boys Jack and William are some handsome guys and really just love being outside and playing with rocks and sticks.
It was great catching up and look forward to seeing these boys grow up and skiing with them.
September 6th and 7th 2013
What can I say about this wedding? Well first off this wedding was a huge party with super fun people!!!
We started off the celebration by shooting the rehearsal at Buck’s T4. This was a casual setting but included some amazing BBQ food which they do so well.
The wedding day was held up at Big Sky Resort and the ceremony was a beautiful Catholic mass which took place at Big Sky Chapel.
Melissa and Chris already have a strong foundation with two amazing children, who are a big part of their lives and were also a big part of the wedding, as you can see in the images below.
After the end of the ceremony we drove around while listening to music and taking some super fun photos with the wedding party and couple.
These two are surrounded with childhood friends who are just like family, clearly showing it really was all about the entire group and not just the couple. This type of close-knit family energy made it very entertaining to document.
As we entered the reception at the Huntley Lodge up at Big Sky Resort we danced the party away with DJ Joe who really knows how to get everyone on the dance floor, and Melissa has some great dance moves.
Thank you from all of us at Eye in the Sky Photography, may your life be filled with many more good times with such amazing friends and family!!!
Keep it in the moment,
Here is a list of all the wonderful vendors who helped to make this day special:
